John Rankin
John Rankin worked in hospitality while pursuing a college degree in philosophy.  The academic life didn't exactly stick, but a love of fine dining and the never-ending variety of wine helped land a job as a cellar rat at Chambers Street Wines in New York City. Soon the vinous world was at his finger tips and he became active selecting and writing about Italian, French, and American wines with a special interest in spirits. After eight fruitful years at retail, he now consults for a wine and spirits importer and pursues  in freelance writing.
